eConnect® PDUs Help Address Security Challenges

(CPI Website, Power Management, Security) Permanent link

CPI Power Management SolutionsChatsworth Products’ (CPI) intelligent eConnect® Power Distribution Units (PDUs) not only monitor power availability, energy consumption of individual IT equipment and provide environmental monitoring, but also address new challenges in security.

As the intelligent PDU market grows, new challenges in security arise. CPI’s eConnect intelligent rack PDUs address security in several different ways:

  • Onboard Web Interface – supports HTTPS protocol, which uses Transport Layer Security (TLS) to transmit and encrypt data
  • SNMP v3 Support – supports authentication and Data Encryption Standard (DES) encryption when intelligent PDUs are being managed through a centralized management software or DCIM application
  • LDAP and RADIUS Authentication – ensures that only personnel with proper authorizations and permissions are able to make critical changes to the intelligent PDUs

For additional security and accountability, eConnect PDUs maintain an exportable log of all major events, such as threshold violations, configuration changes and power control operations. eConnect PDUs also feature CPI’s new patent-pending Click Secure Technology, which allows locking outlets to prevent accidental disconnections.

Find out more about eConnect PDUs or take the look at the online software demo.
