Celebrate the Twelve Days of Christmas, Day 11: Cable Managers

December 22, 2008

What do the holidays and today’s data center have in common? They both require the proper amount of planning and organization in order for them to run smoothly. Staying organized during the holidays is especially difficult with all the extra responsibility and tasks that we must attend

Celebrate the Twelve Days of Christmas, Day 10: Power Strips

December 19, 2008

We all love to see the sparkle in a child’s eyes as they look at the bright lights and decorations in the city square, on a neighbor’s home, or even the Christmas tree in our own homes. The lights and decorations in our home, workplace, and community bring a special touch to the holiday season. Most everywhere we turn there are lights twinkling? If you follow the cord for each string of lights, you will find that it connects to a power source.

Power is also needed in every data center. Chatsworth’s Power Management Products are designed to fully integrate into a CPI Rack System or Cabinet and Enclosure System ...

Celebrate the Twelve Days of Christmas, Day 9: Seismic Racks

December 17, 2008

CPI’s Seismic Frame® Two-Post Rack is designed specifically to support network equipment in areas with seismic activity. The rack is rated for an industry leading 1000 lb per the NEBS GR-63-CORE Zone 4 requirements. An earthquake can easily damage or destroy non-seismic racks and equipment that are not carefully braced. When earthquakes occur, equipment racks move back-and-forth with the building causing violent vibration through racks and equipment. The welded, steel Seismic Frame Two-Post Rack resists the swaying motion caused by earthquakes to reduce the amount of vibration transferred through the rack to equipment and is less likely to be damaged during a seismic event, which means faster network recovery.

Celebrate the Twelve Days of Christmas, Day 7: MegaFrame Cabinets

December 16, 2008

The M-Series MegaFrame is a classic cabinet. The styling is clean and timeless. This cabinet line is now eligible for its own ten year company pin. It continues to be popular and its longevity is due, in part, to a clever design that has allowed it to adapt to the changing requirements in the field. When this cabinet was launched in 1997 it consisted of a dozen part numbers! It quickly evolved into a full line of cabinets each with specific features to match unique requirements. Examples of the versatility include the C-Series SlimFrame®, that’s one floor tile wide, or the multi-compartmented E-Series ISP Co-Location Cabinet, and even a Zone 4 rated Seismic Frame® Cabinet.

Celebrate the Twelve Days of Christmas, Day 8: Remote Sensors

December 16, 2008

Planning a trip home for the holidays? Don’t miss out on all of the holiday festivities because you can’t leave your data center. Travel with comfort knowing that you can continue to monitor your data center conditions with CPI’s Remote Infrastructure Management (RIM-600) Products. The RIM-600 remotely monitors, records and analyzes environmental conditions in your data center or equipment room

Celebrate the Twelve Days of Christmas, Day 6: KoldLok Grommets

December 15, 2008

On the 6th day of Christmas my CPI Certified Contractor installed for me ... Six Koldlok® Grommets

The biggest challenge in today’s data center is thermal management, which is no surprise considering the average heat load generated per equipment cabinet has doubled since 2000.

Sealing cable openings provides a cost-effective airflow and thermal management solution. As much as 50% of cold air in the access floor escapes through cable access holes. Bypass air is expensive because it is air that is air-conditioned, but is not cooling equipment.

Celebrate the Twelve Days of Christmas, Day 5: LCD Consoles

December 11, 2008

The LCD/KVM Console is a convenient set of peripherals that take up only 1 RMU of rack-mount space and will connect to one, eight, or sixteen computers. All units will integrate with Windows or MAC operating systems. The LCD/KVM Console includes an LCD display (15”, 17”, or 19”), a 104 key keyboard & tray with built-in touch pad. Multi-computer units also include an 8 or 16 port keyboard/video/mouse (KVM) switch. The LCD display panel and keyboard tray open separately and are available with PS-2 and/or USB combo cables.

Celebrate the Twelve Days of Christmas, Day 4: Zone Cabling Enclosures

December 11, 2008

Celebrate the holidays with CPI’s “The 12 Days of Christmas Solutions” for your data center. Each topic will feature a unique solution to meet your data center needs.   On the 4th day of Christmas my CPI RCDD suggested to

Celebrate the Twelve Days of Christmas, Day 3: Wall-Mount Cabinets

December 10, 2008

Enclosed Wall-Mount Cabinets provide added physical security and are available in vertical, hinged, and floor supported designs. Vertical cabinets, such as the ThinLine™ II Wall-Mount Cabinet shown on the right, hold equipment against the wall to minimize the depth of the cabinet. Use vertical cabinets to support a small group of network users.

Celebrate the Twelve Days of Christmas, Day 2: Cross Connect Racks

December 09, 2008, 06:33 AM

On the 2nd day of Christmas my approved CPI Distributor provided to me…...

Open equipment racks provide the best solution for organizing IT infrastructure equipment in horizontal and main distribution areas of the data center. They offer easy access to equipment and cabling and generally use less floor space than equipment cabinets.

Celebrate the Twelve Days of Christmas, Day 1: Universal Cable Runway

December 08, 2008, 09:00 AM

On the 1st day of Christmas CPI Technical Support provided me…...Universal Cable Runway.

Cable Runway Products support backbone and horizontal cables between the point of entry/exit into the telecommunications or equipment room and cross-connects on the rack or cabinet. These integrated cable pathway systems route cable within and outside of the equipment room, under access floors, and above acoustic ceilings.
