If you haven't noticed, it seems like everyone is using a
smartphone these days. On planes and trains, in cars and bars,
first thing in the morning and right before bed - there's hardly a
corner of the map where someone, somewhere isn't tapping a
touchscreen while being illuminated by the soft glow of a
smartphone.
Now, the research pros at Gartner have the stats to match the perception. At the end of
second quarter of 2011, worldwide sales of mobile devices totaled
428.7 million units (a 16.5 percent increase over Q2 2010), while
the smartphone segment in particular grew by an astounding 74
percent year-on-year compared to 17 percent in Q2 2010.
When you consider the convenience of near-constant connectivity
to the worldwide web, GPS and location-based services, email, text,
video, photo, friends, foes, and all the rest of it, the meteoric
rise doesn't just signal a passing fad - this is the future of
communication.
Here at Chatsworth Products, Inc. (CPI), we've embraced the
mobile revolution while paying careful attention to how customers
on-the-go interact with and utilize our web site. In the process,
the CPI website redesign earlier this
year placed an emphasis on larger buttons, more prominent headlines
and more comprehensive dropdown menus, making the mobile browsing
experience easier. And while that's just a sign of things to come
for the CPI mobile offering, we're proud to recognize that many of
our partners, distributors and more are making the mobile space
more user-friendly every day.
That includes
CPI distributor Accu-Tech , who recently launched both a
dedicated iPhone App (available through iTunes) and Android App
(available through the Android Market) to go along with a site
optimized for mobile when accessed via a browser. Across both
platforms, the Accu-Tech App allows users to view and
download the latest catalogs from key manufacturers - including CPI
- as well as browse and email spec sheets on the go - yup, you
guessed it, including CPI. Take a look at this quick visual
walk-through of the app in action, featuring a nifty CPI catalog
cameo.
Thanks to apps such as this, and the continuing trend towards
mobile optimization across the board, CPI looks forward to giving
our customers the instant access and connection you demand. But
don't let anyone tell you print's dead! CPI continues to maintain a
dedicated literature request form for
all those times when a hard copy just might come in handy. Jeff Cihocki, eContent Specialist
