Chatsworth Products (CPI) has many opportunities to work with IT teams from around the world, helping them protect their technology investments through high-quality and innovative IT infrastructure solutions. Recently, CPI was called upon to provide a custom data center solution to one of the most popular teams in the National Football League (NFL). This Texas-based team built a new headquarters in Frisco, Texas, that features a state-of-the-art indoor football stadium and training facility.

The facility has all the basics–practice fields, a cafeteria, weight rooms, locker rooms–but it’s the high-tech additions that really impress. These include a completely digital meeting room, where all player scouting and draft research occurs, using fifteen 55-inch screens and two 98-inch multi-touch displays; a fan club, which allows members to dine in luxury while watching the football team practice; a television studio, for in-house broadcasting; tracking systems that monitor the football players’ location, as well as their physical biometrics; extensive security and access management systems; wireless and cellular access points; audio/visual; merchandising and IT disaster recovery for a high-tech stadium.

CPI Tackles the Challenge

Known for the quality of its products and unique customization capability, CPI was selected to support the network and computers of these critical systems. CPI’s solutions included 22 of CPI’s F-Series TeraFrame® Cabinets, which were custom painted with the team’s signature blue and silver color scheme. The F-Series TeraFrame is a unique, attractive and highly functional cabinet that provides robust equipment support and smart airflow management.

Cable runway, grounding and bonding products and intelligent eConnect® Monitored Power Distribution Units (PDUs) were also part of the solution.

Once the building was turned over to the organization’s IT team, they had very little time to get everything up and running. CPI’s ability to provide a complete solution under a single part number helped coordinate shipping, and facilitate quicker installation. Small details, such as the eConnect PDU’s ability to rotate text on the LCD display, also simplified installation.

The data center is set up in a hot/cold aisle configuration. About half of the TeraFrame Cabinets are populated with servers, routers, switches and storage devices, while remaining cabinets stand ready for future growth.

Teamwork is Key

The TeraFrame Cabinets for this installation were built at the CPI Georgetown, Texas, facility, and the  employee owners put great care and attention to detail into every order.

“We always look forward to providing our customers with products that meet their expectations, whether it is custom colors, sizes or accessories.” said Downie Grimm, CPI Plant Manager in Georgetown. “Our products can be found in showcase data centers around the world, but knowing our products support such a prestigious team makes us feel like the star.”
