Three new patents join Chatsworth Products (CPI) long list of patents, demonstrating CPI’s commitment to innovation and design excellence. These patents are for products that help our customers achieve thermal efficiency.
Patented: Electronic Equipment Enclosure Customizable Side Air Dam for the N-Series TeraFrame® Gen 3 Network Cabinet
CPI received a patent for its Vertical Exhaust Duct technology in 2015 and now adds another unique airflow product, the highly flexible side intake duct or side air dam that can be adjusted onsite to control the airflow of a wide range of switch sizes and manufacturers. It is a component of the N-Series TeraFrame® Gen 3 Network Cabinet which manages side-to-side or front-to-rear airflow patterns. Additionally, the duct is designed to simultaneously support equipment of different sizes.
“It is a universal solution that does not require you to know which switch will be used in order to specify side airflow, and it can support multiple switches or different switches stacked in the same cabinet,” states Sam Rodriguez, CPI Product Manager of Cabinet and Thermal Management Systems.

Patented: Door Closer Mechanism for Hot/Cold Aisle Containment Systems
CPI’s Aisle Containment Doors are a critical component of all of CPI Aisle Containment Systems. The quality, durability, design and operation of these doors stand out in the marketplace. Available as single or double doors, both options slide open and automatically close behind you with the signature ease of a quality engineered product. Special attention was payed to the door seal design and performance to minimize airflow leakage to maximize energy savings.
The automatic closing feature minimizes the potential for energy losses due to doors that have been accidentally left open. For times when maintenance needs to be performed in the enclosed aisle, CPI Aisle Containment Doors are engineered with a detent feature that holds the doors open.
Patented: Modular Thermal Isolation Barrier for Build To Spec Kit Hot Aisle Containment
The Build To Spec (BTS) Kit Hot Aisle Containment (HAC) Solution features a field-fabricated duct that is used over a contained hot aisle as part of a closed hot air return. This patent is for the Universal Bulb Seal, which is used around drop panels to seal gaps above shorter cabinets. Bulb seal attaches directly to the edge of the panel.
This solution integrates with perimeter cooling, provides immediate improved cooling efficiency and is compatible with economization methods. It is ideal for retrofit applications over a mix of cabinets, including cabinets of varying heights, widths and depths.
