Chatsworth Products (CPI) employee, Victor Rubio, received the Employee-Owner of the Year Award from the California/Western States Chapter of the ESOP Association—America’s largest employer-sponsored advocacy and education association focused on employee stock ownership plans.
Rubio received the award after being nominated by CPI’s ESOP Communication Committee during the annual California/Western States Chapter Conference held in San Diego. While CPI has been awarded Company of the Year twice for the California/Western States Chapter, Rubio was the first-ever CPI employee to be awarded Employee-Owner of the Year.
Entry rules allow only one employee-owner of the year nomination from each company. The award honors non-management employees of ESOP companies who have “taken the initiative to become an exemplary employee-owner by learning about the ESOP, helping to educate and motivate their colleagues and actively promoting an employee-ownership culture.”
To qualify, the committee answered detailed questions about how Rubio has increased CPI’s productivity and profitability, in addition to his participation in and promotion of the ESOP.
“Victor is a buyer at one of our manufacturing facilities…and has been the Chair of the ESOP Communications Committee for the Chatsworth manufacturing location and Corporate Office in Agoura Hills. He constantly reviews vendors and looks for better pricing and delivery times. One major change Victor was able to make was reducing our inventory significantly. He recruits…and guides ESOP team members to help them learn more about the ESOP. He is involved in—and leads—various ESOP activities. He has attended and spoken at various Chapter events and is involved in various community organizations where he continues to promote our ESOP and company in general.”
Victor will go on to compete (against other winners from each chapter) for National Employee-Owner of the Year next May during the ESOP Association's National Conference in Washington, DC.
CPI is proud of Victor, not only for being an exemplary employee, but also a leader within the company and community. To learn more about CPI’s employee ownership, please watch a short video.
