Through simple, intuitive and user-configurable screens and dashboards, Power IQ® for eConnect® collects data and turn it into information on the health, power and cooling conditions of the data center.
By being able to view the condition of their existing infrastructure resources, data center mangers can make informed decisions and proactively prevent downtime.
Here are four features that help data center managers do just that:
The Health Map provides a red-green-yellow indication of the health of cabinets, UPSs, CRACs, RPPs and other data center equipment.
For example, users can get a cabinet’s load, capacity, sensor condition and alerts that would cause the cabinet to go into critical condition. This pane also allows users to compare the load of the cabinet with thresholds to see whether they have been violated. It is also possible to drill down further to see the actual contents of the cabinet by rack, unit space, sensors, etc.
Furthermore, data center managers are able to look at individual rack power distribution units (PDUs) to see their load, in-line current or see if there are any warning conditions. (Pro tip: eConnect PDUs have out-of-the-box compatibility with PowerIQ).
This dashboard provides a number of ASHRAE ranges, allowing data center managers to measure the temperature of the inlet at the cold aisle and compare that to the recommended ranges. A custom functionality allows users to set customized ranges so they can benchmark them with other companies.
Through this pane, users can learn about real-time PUE and current power capacity utilization at any level within the hierarchy (PDU, rack, row, busway, room, etc.).
Any measurement within the data center can be trended over time, from active power, current, energy, carbon footprint, energy cost, etc. Then, the data can be exported and used for future deployment strategies.
With this tool, it is possible to project future capacity needs so data center managers can plan according to capacity supply. It captures loads, trends them and indicates how many days of energy capacity supply the data center has.
Furthermore, Power IQ features a drag-and-drop technology that allows users to easily create new dashboards according to their needs and preferences. A variety of widgets such as floor map, PUE gauge, PUE chart, trend chart, health bar chart are available.
