Seismic Frame® Two-Post Racks Now OSHPD Approved

(Design Tools, Tech Tips, CPI Products) Permanent link

CPI's SeismicFrame® Two-Post Rack is now OSHPD approved for installation in seismically active regions. CPI seeks approval from the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) and has received Pre-Approval (OPA) numbers for several of our IT infrastructure products.

The SeismicFrame® Two-Post Rack reduces the risk of equipment damage during an earthquake by resisting the swaying motion and reducing the vibration transferred through the rack to equipment, which means faster network recovery. The rack is rated for a 1,000 lb (453.6 kg) seismic Zone 4 load per Section 4.4 of the Telcordia® Technologies, Inc. GR-63-CORE Network Equipment Building Systems (NEBS) requirements.

During the design of the Seismic Frame, the rack passed numerous seismic tests without damage to the rack. Here is a short video of some of the testing.

CPI will continue to submit equipment anchorage load calculations (anchorage drawings) to OSHPD to obtain additional OPA number designations for CPI Products. Prior to receiving the OPA number designation, anchorage drawings can be useful if you are in the process of designing data centers in seismically active regions. If you would like to request anchorage drawings for our pre-approved products please contact us. Kim Ream, Sr. eCommerce Specialist
