WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. – September 2008 - Chatsworth Products, Inc. (CPI), a leading manufacturer that sets the benchmark by providing superior structural support to organize, store and secure IT infrastructure equipment offers the Vertical Exhaust Duct in more sizes, with configurable heights and a collapsible design.
The Vertical Exhaust Duct, a CPI Passive Cooling® Solution, used with the F-Series TeraFrame™ Cabinet System isolates and guides hot exhaust air from the back of the cabinet to the drop ceiling plenum, creating a closed hot air return path to the cooling system. By utilizing CPI Passive Cooling technology, airflow is not limited to fan capacity and there are no additional power costs, fan replacements or power redundancy concerns. Available with enhanced features, CPI’s UL® Listed Vertical Exhaust Duct is offered in more sizes for additional cabinet dimensions, provides configurable heights to fit ceiling height requirements and is collapsible for easier shipping. The new duct replaces the original Vertical Exhaust Duct and attaches to the top of the 23.6” (600 mm) and 27.6” wide (700 mm) F-Series TeraFrame Cabinets with 41.3” (1050 mm) to 47.2” deep (1200 mm) cabinet frames.

With a two-piece telescoping design, CPI’s Vertical Exhaust Duct meets additional ceiling height requirements and is available in a short version extending from 20” - 34” for low ceilings (508 mm - 863 mm) and a tall version reaching 34” - 60” (863 mm - 1523 mm) for higher ceilings. Along the top edge of the duct, a flexible gasket creates a seal around the opening in the drop ceiling, simplifying installation by eliminating the need for ceiling grid alterations. The collapsible design allows the duct to fold flat during shipping and arrive with the cabinet when ordered together.
In addition, a new full-depth Server Top Panel is offered for cabinets ordered with the Vertical Exhaust Duct and for those that can be fitted with a duct. The Server Top Panel includes a knockout at the rear of the panel for the Vertical Exhaust Duct, allowing air to flow upward through the duct.
