Seal Smaller Cable Holes, Reduce Bypass Airflow and Increase Energy Efficiency 

The KoldLok® Mini Raised Floor Grommet from CPI

  

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. – September 2008 - Chatsworth Products, Inc. (CPI), a leading manufacturer that sets the benchmark by providing superior structural support to organize, store and secure IT infrastructure equipment now offers the new KoldLok® Mini Raised Floor Grommet to seal smaller cable holes, reduce bypass airflow and increase energy efficiency.

KoldLok MiniUnsealed cable openings in access floor environments allow 50-80 percent of valuable supply air to bypass critical equipment, contributing to hot spots, cooling unit inefficiencies and increased infrastructure costs. Designed with brush closures that surround and protect cables, the KoldLok Mini Raised Floor Grommet, a CPI Passive Cooling® accessory, effectively seals cable holes as small as 4” x 6” to reduce bypass airflow around cables in access floor environments. By decreasing bypass airflow, the KoldLok Mini significantly impacts the cooling effectiveness of the data center by preventing cold supply air from mixing with hot exhaust air via unsealed cable holes, which allows more cold supply air to be utilized to cool equipment, optimizes the effectiveness of existing cooling equipment and provides greater control for managing increasing heat loads.

Patent-pending, the KoldLok Mini meets smaller cable hole standards specified in new data center builds and provides the flexibility needed for data centers with multiple cable openings. In addition, the KoldLok Mini is made with fire-rated resin and filaments that meet UL94 V0 standards. CPI offers two styles of the KoldLok Mini; one that can dissipate static charges through treated brush filaments and one that employs standard untreated brush filaments.
