New "Zone Telecommunications Enclosures" From CPI - Place Fiber Closer To The Desktop
WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. - September 5, 2003 - Chatsworth Products, Inc. (CPI), a 100% employee-owned leading manufacturer of structural support systems for technology equipment, announces the release of Zone Telecommunications Enclosures that move fiber closer to the desktop and facilitate quick changes to cabling within the work area.
An improvement over the traditional consolidation point, Zone Enclosures allow for an active component to create a space where a single fiber may be cross-connected to multiple users. The Enclosures are placed close to the users within the work area - above drop ceilings, under raised floors, even inside cubicle wall panels. The active enclosure allows deployment of zone cabling within open office space or allows installation of a small enclosure to a remote area of the building where a full telecommunications room may not be available.
Additionally, the distance between the cross-connect and the user is greatly reduced when compared with traditional "home-run" cabling methods, making the floor plan easier and less costly to reconfigure. Networks are positioned for a future transition of fiber to the desktop, and as an added benefit, service work does not interfere with daily office business.
To highlight an example, CPI P/N A1222-HR is a two-foot square plenum rated enclosure - 12 inches high - that mounts within a drop ceiling, replacing a single ceiling tile. It provides 2 RMU for network switches and up to 5 RMU for user connections. A fully-hinged door opens downward toward the floor and supports equipment in a direction that faces the technician when in the open position.
A preinstalled fan for heat removal and a junction box for two duplex receptacles allow compliance with the Telecommunications Enclosure requirements. A lock can be added to provide additional physical security for equipment. For additional options, please contact CPI.
