WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. - October, 2005- Chatsworth Products, Inc. (CPI), a leading manufacturer of systems designed to organize, store and secure IT infrastructure equipment expands its line of cabinets, cable management products and accessories providing a complete data center solution.
In today's high speed world of data management various steps go into planning and executing the creation of a successful data center solution. IT managers must consider the room layout and design to include equipment storage, cable management, cable pathways, zone distribution areas, power distribution and thermal management as well as security, equipment monitoring and grounding and bonding. To support today's IT equipment, CPI offers data center solutions, support and service to create comprehensive and efficient infrastructures that address the need for increased cooling and cable management.
The Enhanced SteelFrame Cabinet is the most recent addition to the CPI line and offers a variety of standard features that aid in cooling. The cabinet includes two pair of equipment mounting rails that offer front and rear support for 19" rack-mount equipment, 36" or 39" usable depth, 45 RMU and supports up to 2,000 lb. The Enhanced SteelFrame Cabinet is available in a Low kW and High kW version. Choose the Low kW Cabinet with front and rear perforated doors for front-to-rear airflow and heat loads up to five kilowatts. This cabinet comes standard with a vented top panel, jumper trough and Integral Air Dam. The jumper trough routes patch and equipment cords from side-to-side or cabinet-to-cabinet while the air dam blocks airflow around the sides of the rack-mount space within the cabinet. Select the High kW Cabinet for heat loads above five kilowatts. This cabinet comes standard with a rear solid door and Intelligent Fan Kit for front-to-top airflow and swing handle latch.
Designed as a modular system, the Enhanced SteelFrame Cabinet achieves further cooling capabilities with the following accessories: External Cable Manager, Therma-Stop™ Brush Side Panel, Solid Side Panel, and Airflow Duct.
Use the new External Cable Manager to manage network, power and peripheral cables outside of the cabinet space. By managing cables outside of the rack-mount space, efficient airflow is maintained, resulting in cooler equipment. The External Cable Manager attaches to the side of the cabinet and includes front and rear vertical cable management troughs and four front-to-rear horizontal cable troughs. The vertical cable management troughs have openings that align with each rack-mount space in the cabinet. Use 12" wide managers in between cabinets in multi-cabinet bays and use 6" wide managers on the end of cabinet bays. Both widths are available in 36" and 39" depths. The External Cable Manager includes locking solid front and rear doors.
Locking side panels attach to the sides of the Enhanced SteelFrame Cabinet or External Cable Manager and provide added security and enhanced airflow by enclosing the cabinet and cable manager. Use the Therma-Stop™ Brush Side Panel in between the Enhanced SteelFrame Cabinet and External Cable Manager. The brushed openings in the side panel allow cables to pass easily between the cabinet and cable manager, while preventing airflow between cabinets. To secure equipment and help control airflow use CPI's Solid Side Panel on the end of cabinet bays. Side panels are available in 36" or 39" depths and include a keyed lock.
CPI's new Airflow Duct is used to isolate hot air from the room as part of a closed return cooling system. The Airflow Duct attaches to the top of the cabinet and channels hot air between the top of the cabinet and the drop ceiling plenum.
The new CPI KoldLok® Raised Floor Grommet seals cable openings in raised floors preventing the loss of cold air through cable pass-through holes in raised floor tiles. An impact resistant polypropylene grommet insert protects cables as they pass through the cut in the raised floor tile while a double-layer brush closure seals cables and prevents cold air from escaping through the hole in the floor. Blocking airflow through cable pass through holes in the raised floor can have significant impact on cooling effectiveness as more cold air is directed to equipment where it is needed. A surface-mount version that covers existing holes in the floor is also available.
Choose from CPI's Security and Environmental Monitoring Solutions to secure and remotely record temperature and humidity conditions within the Enhanced SteelFrame Cabinet. These solutions include Electronic Locks Upgrade, Environmental Monitoring and Network Connections.
Electronic Locks Upgrade enforces access rights while creating detailed records of cabinet entry. Select Lock Control Modules to control, monitor and record cabinet access. Use one Lock Control Module to connect eight swing handles (four cabinets). Add Electronic Lock Upgrade Kits to each door to set access levels and time slots for individual users or groups of users. Include a Keypad Module or Proximity Card Reader Module to open multiple doors/cabinets.
Monitor cabinet environments to keep temperatures and humidity at acceptable levels with CPI's Environmental Monitoring Sensors. Choose from a variety of Sensor Modules to measure and record physical conditions in the cabinet space. Set alarm limits and receive notifications for adverse conditions. CPI Sensors include Temperature Sensor, Humidity Sensor, Smoke Sensor and Door Open/Closed Sensor. Each Sensor Module will support four sensors.
CPI's Network Connections provide the capability to monitor conditions over a remote web interface. The Communications Module provides a single network or internet connection and browser access for monitoring up to 64 Lock Control Modules, 64 Keypad Modules, 64 Proximity Card Reader Modules and 64 Sensor Modules. All modules daisy chain with network cables and are included with Windows-compatible software, providing setup, monitoring, recording and remote access alarm functions.
