CPI Releases 189 BIM Product Model Drawings for Autodesk® Revit®

BLOG_BIM%20MODEL%201.jpgWESTLAKE VILLAGE, California, US – January 2011 - Chatsworth Products, Inc. (CPI), a global manufacturer providing voice, data and security products and service solutions that optimize, store and secure technology equipment now offers drawings for Building Information Modeling (BIM). CPI’s vast library of design tools now includes a free, expansive suite of 189 BIM Product Model Drawings developed professionally to assist customers with projects utilizing Autodesk® Revit® software. CPI’s continuously growing selection will give customers the design tools needed to create a dynamic and flawless layout.

BIM is an integrated process for digitally exploring a project’s key physical and functional characteristics before it is actually built. By utilizing three-dimensional, real-time, dynamic building modeling software, productivity is increased in building design and construction. BIM improves understanding, allows for predictable outcomes and facilitates a fast and economic delivery, all while minimizing environmental impact. This process provides accurate documentation, earlier decision-making and the ability to evaluate alternatives for sustainable design or improvements by utilizing analysis before the initial stages of construction.

CPI offers more BIM drawings than other IT infrastructure providers in the following major product families: Cable Runway and Tray Products, Cable Management Products, Rack Systems, Cabinet and Enclosure Systems and Wall-Mount Systems. Over 80 percent of CPI’s major products are included in the BIM software, with more being added by the end of January 2011. CPI will continue to expand its BIM library as new products become available. BIM Product Model Drawings will be provided on a CD which includes a unique tracking number, allowing CPI to verify what edition individual customers possess ensuring requests for updates are quickly delivered via e-mail. To ensure quick and easy ordering, a spreadsheet for Microsoft Excel will be included with the CD allowing a list to be generated identifying major products and part numbers that are selected in the design process.

CPI’s BIM Product Model Drawings are custom made with information specific to each customer’s needs, ensuring they will receive the latest edition as soon as they are made available. For a free copy of CPI’s BIM Product Model Drawings, stop by booth 419 at the BICSI Winter Conference and Exhibition in Orlando, Fla. (January 16-20, 2011) and speak to one of CPI’s Regional Sales Managers (RSMs). If unable to attend BICSI, contact your local RSM for more information on how to get a copy. In order for CPI to continue enhancing this unparalleled product, your feedback is encouraged. CPI offers other design tools such as Visio® Shapes and CAD blocks, available through CPI’s website at www.chatsworth.com/designtools. If you are attending BICSI, be sure to join the BIM presentation scheduled for Thursday, January 20, 2011 entitled, “The BIM Impact on Data Center Design -- A Consultant’s Perspective,” given by David Wells and Dwayne Miller.
