WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif., Nov. 4, 2013 – Chatsworth Products’ (CPI) Aisle Containment Solutions can reduce power consumption by up to 50 percent by using unique methods that address architectural and business variables in your data center, resulting in financial savings and a more efficient facility.
Hostirian, a colocation provider in St. Louis, recently transformed 4,500 square feet of office space into a data center using CPI’s Cold Aisle Containment (CAC) Solution, which resulted in a significant decrease in power usage. Prior to the redesign, Hostirian had been experiencing poor airflow management due to a rapid increase in the company’s size and business.
“If you walk into our legacy room, you can literally feel the inefficiencies. Our electric bill is our largest bill. Our electric use is going up, and customers want to spend less money,” stated Ken Cox, vice president of operations for Hostirian.
After Hostirian installed CPI’s Aisle Containment Solutions in its new data center, Cox said, “The load in the new CAC pods is using about 50 percent less power than the legacy data center with the same IT load. That’s huge.” The reduction in power usage not only lowered Hostirian’s electric bills, but it boosted company morale as well.
The new showpiece data center increased company morale by improving working conditions and keeping employees and equipment cool. Equipment is now organized and secured in a clean and well-designed environment. In just a few short months, this upgrade resulted in multiple clients putting in bids for Hostirian’s space.
