Chatsworth Products’ New eConnect^® Electronic Access Control Improves Physical Data Center Security
Intelligent Power, Environmental Monitoring and Access Control in a Single, PDU-Based Platform

AGOURA HILLS, Calif., March 15, 2017 — Chatsworth Products (CPI) recently introduced eConnect^® Electronic Access Control (EAC), a networked locking solution for data center cabinets that allows data center managers to keep a log entry of each cabinet access remotely, adding another layer of security to the cabinet.

eConnect EAC works with CPI’s vertical eConnect power distribution units (PDUs) models that have proprietary auxiliary ports, removing the need to power and network the locks separately. This integrated solution combines rack-level power management, environmental monitoring and remote access control into a single, easy-to-use PDU-based system.

Secure Array™ IP Consolidation, an eConnect feature that allows up to 32 PDUs to be linked under one network connection, works with the integrated cabinet ecosystem using a single network connection and one interface to monitor all three elements, which greatly simplifies rack management.

Key advantages include:

• Deployment Savings: Secure Array allows up to 32 PDUs (16 cabinets with front and rear locks) to be deployed under one IP address
• Remote Access Control: Through the eConnect interface, users can remotely program, monitor and control each cabinet access and keep a log entry for security and regulatory compliance purposes
• Smart Card Authentication: Proximity card reader recognizes existing employee 125 kHz or 13.56 MHz RFID cards

Additionally, EAC works with CPI's Power IQ^® for eConnect and other third-party DCIM software to provide a single source for white space/rack-level monitoring and control, and to consolidate data into a single database for cross reporting.
