Many CPI Enclosure and Zone Cabling Products Meet New TIA Standards
WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. – November 5, 2004 – Chatsworth Products, Inc. (CPI), a 100% employee-owned leading manufacturer of structural support systems for computer and communications networks, announce that a number of enclosure and zone cabling products already being offered by the company are in compliance with updates to the 569-B and Addendum 5 to 568-B.1 Standards recently issued by the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA).
The new TIA-569-B (the Commercial Building Standard for Telecommunications Pathways and Spaces) defines the locations and spaces to house passive equipment for cabling. Zone cabling is defined in the TIA-568-B series Commercial Building Telecommunications Cabling Standard and allows for multi-user telecommunications outlet assemblies (MUTOAs) and Consolidation Points (CPs).
CPI's passive ceiling and floor zone enclosures are designed for plenum environments and can have locks added where necessary to meet the standard. Wall-mount cabinets also provide a location for housing the CP. Typically, the consolidation point connection is made using a patch panel, however, a wiring block may also be used. Zone enclosures are available for both.
CPI also offers Zone cabling enclosures to house Consolidation Points (CPs) and Multi-User Telecommunications Outlet Assemblies (MUTOAs). CPI enclosures are designed to open into the office space and are fire-stopped to separate them from the plenum air handling space of the ceiling or floor.
The telecommunications enclosure (TE) is a new “space” allowed in TIA-569-B. In essence, it has the same rights and responsibilities as a telecommunications room. The TE can include active telecommunications equipment, cable terminations and associated cross-connect cabling. Telecommunications Enclosures from CPI have appropriate provisions for equipment mounting, heat dissipation, security and power.
